Hi, friend. My name is Rori (she/her) and I’m so happy you are here. I am a folk herbalist, astrologer, and reiki practitioner, attuned to Usui Reiki levels 1 and 2, as well as levels 1 and 2 of Karuna Reiki, or “Reiki of Compassion.” I am currently working towards becoming a Reiki Master with my teacher in the beautiful, all powerful Rocky Mountains.
The intention behind all of my work focuses on harm reduction and helping others to find the healer within. Everyone is a healer and I believe it is our birthright to reclaim that power. It brings me great joy alchemizing medicine from the magical plants growing all around us, these sacred healing offerings from Mama Earth.
Sacred Rose Apothecary was born from my love and adoration of Rose as a plant ally, and Venus as planet ally. I have been focusing much of my astrological studies on Venus cycles and Venus themes (love, pleasure, relationships, values, creative energy, Divine Feminine…). The rose is connected to Venus in many ways, and most fascinating (in my opinion) is that the synodic cycles of Earth and Venus revolving around the Sun create a rose shape, which is represented in my logo (and I will speak more on this in my blog at a future date for those wanting to know more). I must acknowledge the root of my astrological journey, the energy that first pulled me in, the Great Initiator - the Moon, who is a wonderful teacher and who I refer all students of the sky to when beginning their sky practice. Some teachers that have been influential in my journey to understanding and developing a relationship with the sky are Chani Nicholas, Adam Gainsburg, Adam Somer, Arielle Guttman, Gemini Brett, Rick Merlin Levine, Divine Harmony, to name a few…
I studied herbalism at the Sacred Journey School of Herbalism in Austin, TX under Ginger Webb and Lauren Peterson, who continue to be important teachers in my life. I am eternally grateful for the lens in which they teach from - that we are working in reciprocity with plants, removing the paradigm that there is a war between us and what ails us, and plants are soldiers we employ as weapons, but rather medicinal plants are our allies to be respected and worked with. We have a responsibility to care for the plants and the Earth, just as they care for us.
Thank you for being here.
We live on Stolen Land
I grew up in suburbia, and as a teenager I had a lot of rage from being raised without any mentorship about how to be in relationship with the Earth. I moved away to Hawaii when I graduated high school to study Tropical Plant and Soil Sciences at the University of Hawaii in hopes of learning how to tend the Earth. It was here that I realized our blatant connection to the soil - we are a literal microcosm of this complex living ecosystem we walk upon. My journey took me away from academia, through the healing arts, back to academia, and I am currently weaving the two together as I work towards my BS in Psychology and Masters in Counseling while continually developing my Reiki, Living-Sky Astrology, and Herbalism practices. Although my path is a winding one, it is rooted in the soil. Our health and well-being relies upon the health and well-being of the life-giving soil, as well as the water that nourishes us and soil. In order to heal the Earth, we must also heal ourselves, and back and forth and on and on… I believe that our future depends on Indigenous Wisdom, which is why a portion of sales of wildcrafted products will ALWAYS go towards indigenous groups who are doing work to repair and educate others on how to live in right relationship with these lands.
