Full Moon in Virgo
This full moon is illuminating opportunities for where we can be of service (look to where Virgo is in your natal chart for hints and validation for what you already knew in your core). Virgo ritualizes the mundane and acknowledges the sacred in the profane. Every action is a prayer. Virgo is about purification, an educated sorting out of what is worthless so that there is space to gather in what is worthy - Virgo levels TF up. You cannot be of service if you are not giving yourself the nourishment you need to thrive. What practices keep you feeling healthy in mind and body? What distracts you from being in your best flow? What is lighting and lifting you up, and what is dimming and weighing you down? It's time to clear it out.
Full moons are not only a culmination of the energy of the current lunar cycle, but also of a greater cycle, a zenith of momentum from the last new moon that occurred in the same sign. What were you calling in, consciously or otherwise, at the end of August last year, around the time of the Virgo New Moon? How have you been tending your physical, emotional, mental, spiritual health? What has been coming to fullness? What is ready to be released? Acknowledge your progress by writing out the changes you’ve made since then, and get honest with the areas where you may have had some resistance.
The most prominent aspect to this Full Moon is its trine(1) to Uranus. This unifying earth energy is drawing our attention to the ways in which we are inter-connected, and how we can create a stronger, more supportive web of reciprocity. How are our lives contributing to our social ecosystem, both current and future? How are our daily routines, the food we put in our bodies, our spiritual practices, preparing and shaping us for the big shifts to come? Support the systems you wish to see survive through these volatile times.
Mercury - the ruling planet(2) for this full moon - has a large influence on the tone of this Full Moon. Mercury recently entered Pisces and is putting out dreamy vibes. This is the antidote to the, sometimes excessively, perfecting Virgo energy - give yourself the gift of time to have no agenda and do something that inspires creativity and/or devotion, and brings you to an inner state of connection with Higher Consciousness (or however you name it)… Get into a feeling of flow and allow whatever to come through without fear of what it might look or sound like. Surprise yourself, feel the cringe, the delight, and everything in between. Mercury is in a harmonious aspect to the nodes, offering healing and evolution within and through this creative process. Virgo can be super serious, and overly critical - leave perfectionism out of it. Let yourself be perfectly imperfect. Virgo wants to constantly improve and get rid of what isn’t working - nix the “it’s not enough,” the “do better,” and the “work harder” from your mental vocabulary. It’s time to notice the mind, and notice what it has been fixated on, the stories it has been gripping that are ready to be transmuted. Shift your perspective and recognize the sacred that is right in front of you… Even the mundane can be a vehicle for connecting with the Divine. Wash the dishes with complete unadulterated presence. Give thanks to the water coming out of the faucet and the roof over your head, should you be so privileged.
Saturn moves into Pisces shortly after the moment of the full moon. This is the last and final push of Saturn in Aquarius. We're moving on from the lessons of the last three years - lessons on boundaries and maturation pertaining to Aquarius themes (community, technology, collaboration and exchanging ideas, social evolution), hopefully feeling resolved and ready for Saturn’s shift into Pisces - a sign that represents the antithesis of Saturnian energy. Collectively, Saturn in Pisces will have us thinking a little differently about boundaries-recognizing when it's appropriate to be a bit more permeable. We will be challenged and inspired to exercise compassion, tolerance, and understanding of all schools of thought and worldviews, while strongly evaluating what deserves our loyalty and our faith. Our spirituality may be challenged, and it may be strengthened. Masks will come off and hard truths may be revealed.
Vesta, Jupiter, Chiron, and Venus are clustered together in Aries in a quincunx to the Moon...This huddle around Chiron has felt intense and tender AF. This stellium(3) is out of the line of the Sun’s illumination - the Moon is the “star of the show” and this group of planets is hanging in the shadows. It is important to acknowledge and honor what is hidden in the darkness, and also, acknowledge the importance of our daily reverence to the mundane and all that sustains us. Look up and out, & stay present and grateful, especially in the moments where you are wishing you were somewhere else...
We saw Venus conjunct Jupiter in the sky last Wednesday (and can still see them relatively close in the sky together). The conjunction of these two benefics may have conspired some unexpected blessings, serendipities, or simply a feeling of lightness, a break from the heavy, angsty overarching tone of these times (thanks to Pluto and Saturn at their anaretic(4) degrees) and we can certainly feel the energy of the current astrological weather, this lingering stellium. As Jupiter approaches its conjunction to Chiron, the pain of our deep wounds around our sense of self and the hero’s journey we wish to embark on, but believe we cannot, has been amplified. We may feel hindered, like we cannot actually fulfill the untamable desire to be who we feel we deserve to be, the person we were meant to be. This can manifest at the most extreme as rage and violence. For other, more watery friends, it can manifest as powerful bursts of tears. Some may avoid, and escape, turning to coping mechanisms and comforts to distract from the discomfort. The only way is through. Feel the pain of participating in a “reality” that is anti-evolution, and use the energy of Mercury in Pisces not to escape, but to dream BIGGER, for yourself, and for the collective (Uranus in Taurus). Mercury is also sextile(5) the North Node in Taurus, which supports our magick to wield and attract the physical manifestations required to shift our work in alignment to honoring that which is sacred and must be protected.
It is also interesting to note Vesta’s presence in the stellium in Aries, as Vesta and Virgo are both “virgin” archetypes. The word virgin did not historically imply abstinence, but actually meant “she who is unto herself” - signifying a woman who chose not to marry, and thus did not “belong” to a husband. Vesta was devoted not to a man, but to tending to the inner flame, in Higher Service to humanity - this strengthens the notion that our service to ourselves MUST precede our service to others. As Vesta also draws closer to Chiron, it may bring up ideas around the conventional roles and ideologies we devote ourselves to and discerning whether these are resonant with the path we seek to forge - ruthlessly weeding out that which is not serving in order to make space for integration of that which is more aligned with our spiral upward.
As always, be kind to yourselves, star fam. Quiet the inner-critic and be the creative being you came here to be.
(1) A trine is a third of a circle, a 120 degree angle - a triangle is the strongest of the shapes, and thus a trine is arguably the most harmonious and supportive of all of the aspects.
(2) Every sign of the zodiac has a ruling planet - this Full Moon is in the sign of Virgo, and Virgo’s ruling planet is Mercury, making Mercury the ruling planet of this Full Moon.
(3) A stellium is a group of three or more planets together in a sign.
(4) Anaretic degree - the last degree, or the 29th degree, of a zodiac sign. The energy that the anaretic degree holds is similar to the feeling when you’re working on an intense project and you’re close to the deadline and you’re pushing to finish it with integrity.
(5) Sextile - 60 degree angle - second to a trine in terms of harmonious, supportive aspects
