New Moon in Capricorn
Two days ago the Winter Solstice marked the end of our descent cycle. It marks the longest night, when we experience the most darkness in the Northern Hemisphere. We will continue to be here in our darkness, but we are now slowly emerging out. This happens every year, and is a very familiar feeling for us. Simultaneously, Venus has been in her re-birth stage. Venus has been invisible to us for many months. She has been going through her own underworld journey, which we have also felt, for some more strongly than others, for some more consciously than others. I think a huge example of this energy manifesting here is of what is happening to women and girls in Iran who are fighting for their sovereignty and freedom - this to me is textbook Venus in Libra Star Point energy, although I cannot speak to this energy from past experience because this energy has not been felt for almost 150 years, when she made her last Venus Star Point in Libra. Venus has been in the depths of her own darkness, and after she made her conjunction to the Sun in late October, she has been ascending… Venus became visible again, very briefly, on December 13th, when she was just far enough away from the Sun that she could be seen shortly after the Sun set. Every day, she gets a little further and a little brighter, and she will be in the night sky longer. At the time of the New Moon, Venus will be out of her re-birth phase and will have been initiated into her remembrance and embodiment phase. Capricorn energy is strong right now - we have been initiated into Capricorn season with the Winter Solstice on Wednesday, Venus has been going through her rebirth and reemergence in Capricorn, we had our New Moon here while many of us slept and dreamt in the United States… and later this month, Mercury will begin their retrograde in Capricorn, giving us more time and space to receive information about how we can begin to make our visions a reality. There is much work to be done. It’s time to roll up our sleeves, and begin drawing out our plans so we can build something that has lasting power in the New Earth we are building.
Meanwhile, Jupiter just re-entered Aries after his retrograde into Pisces. Jupiter is square this New Moon, and we may feel at odds with having big feelings about getting on with our big visions already, and a deep inner knowing that is so heavy and seemingly impossible to fight against (and I would recommend not fighting) to take the time to do it right. Jupiter in Aries may think that we can do it ourselves, we have the power and the vision to make it happen - things are changing, and we are realizing that doing it alone isn’t working anymore. It takes a village, we need community, but not just any community - we may be in a position in our lives where we realize that our visions for the future may not be in alignment with those we are surrounded with. Some of us may have to do some shuffling and rearranging in our lives, which can sometimes be very uncomfortable and painful, but could be as simple as mustering up the courage to ask a new friend who feels like kin to vision with us… to “play” - if you will. Venus going through her re-emergence and remembering in Capricorn after her conjunction with the Sun in Libra is assisting us in healing our own relationship wounds, while giving us the discernment and realization that we no longer have to put up with toxic ways of relating, and with the assistance of Uranus in Taurus riding close to the North Node, our vision for what it means to be in relationship is drastically changing. This is not exclusive to romantic relationships - toxic family and work dynamics will not survive these times. Those that continue to resist the shift will experience heightened volatility that can manifest in physical and non-physical ways.
The energy in the air is the energy of initiation. We are starting something new. We have a fresh slate. It’s not that we are starting from the beginning, we have scratched our plans because we have arrived at this place with more wisdom, with new eyes, and an understanding that the world is never going to be the way it was… it is necessary for our survival to change. Personally, we are becoming painfully aware that the way we have been operating is no longer working for us - it is almost as if we physically cannot do it anymore. This could be manifesting in any area of your life - your work, relationships, where you live - and in a variety of ways - health issues, money issues, spiritual crisis, etc. Some of us will feel this more strongly than others - in your chart, I would look to where Capricorn, Libra, and Aries are to get some affirmation of what you are likely already feeling. So - for this New Moon, I recommend dreaming, either alone or with someone or others that you feel deeply safe with. Start drafting the blueprints for the life you want to create in the New Earth that you are visioning. We all have to weave our own piece in the giant quilt of life we are co-creating. Trust that what is in your soul crying out to be expressed will be a necessary thread in the fabric of our collective vision.
