Full Moon in Cancer

Sacred Rose Apothecary Astrology Art Full Moon in Cancer

This full moon in Cancer is part of a healing T-square in cardinal signs. While the Cancer Moon rises in its fullness in the eastern sky with asteroid Pallas, on the opposite side of the earth the Sun and Mercury Rx in Capricorn sets - Chiron is in a challenging square high in the sky in Aries. Get ready for BIG feelings around your sense of self - what ideologies and operating systems are you allowing to linger within you which no longer support your being-ness? Dig deep for the courage, curiosity, and discernment it takes to step into the aspects of you that allow you to feel at home everywhere you go. It’s ok, and necessary, to mourn the parts of you you may be leaving behind…

Although the energy is challenging, it is pulling into focus an important reconciliation we must make within ourselves. This full moon in Cancer is illuminating our inner world - are you staying conscious of your internal script? Are you editing your thoughts and visions accordingly to align them with your desires? Are you denying yourself of fully realizing your desires because they seem out of reach from where you currently stand? What needs protecting? What needs to be shown the door - be cognizant of the trojan horses that entered into your consciousness that may be wreaking havoc on your spiral up. We are possibly feeling at odds with our sense of self - perhaps we are suffering from imposter syndrome. At times we may feel vital and expansive as we continue to shed old layers, revealing our True Selves, our original Divine Blueprint, and then we go through contractions and feelings of self doubt and fear of our new exposed vulnerable Self - we feel naked and, at the extreme, ashamed, because we don’t blend into the reality we are leaving behind, and we are unsure of if/how we might fit into the collective fabric being woven in real time. We cannot go back to the way we were, and continuing to live in roles and spaces where we cannot fully embody these shifts will become increasingly unbearable.

The morning after the full moon, Mercury makes its inferior conjunction to the sun (although it is still in the path of the Sun’s light during the full moon), or its cazimi - this marks the midpoint of its retrograde cycle, and a moment for receiving insightful and inspiring downloads, a time where we can get out of our own way and hear (assuming we are listening) the wisdom of our Higher Selves - we are primed to release the stories that keep us from taking the leap from dream-space to reality. Mercury retrograde in Capricorn has us refining our plans for our futures, starting from our root systems, our foundations - what will it take to build something that lasts, that will sustain our lives in all the ways - financially, spiritually, emotionally, relationally? The cazimi moment is a time to turn off the brain and let our Higher Creativity run the show - try some stream of consciousness writing the morning of the 7th and see what comes through. Uranus is sextile the full moon, and trine to Mercury cazimi, which offers us an extra boost of creative genius, of thinking radically outside of the boundaries of our schemas. Saturn, the ruler of this Mercury retrograde and Capricorn season, in Aquarius is also helping us to consider the WE, and how to build our collective and personal structures in a way that is inclusive and flexible, able to hold the inevitable and essential upgrades and metamorphoses we will be undergoing in the years to come. The road here has not been an easy one, but we are stronger, braver, and wiser - we are ready to step through this next threshold.

Cancer Full Moon Ritual Suggestions:

Consider under what conditions you feel the MOST SAFE. Can you gift yourself that this evening? Literally whatever is most soothing to your nervous system, allow yourself that luxury without guilt. Take “should” out of your vocabulary.

Any full or new moons in water signs are going to elicit emotions, which we can use as gateways to our intuition and creativity. Find a channel that works for you to let it flow out - I personally love journaling and find it to be a therapeutic, insightful, and powerful tool in keeping me authentically on my path. If that sort of thing is calling to you and you’d like some direction, I invite you to consider the following journal prompt suggestions for this full moon/ mercury cazimi, and consciously invite any and all messages from your Higher Mind to spill out onto your page.

  • What seeds have I courageously planted that I most profoundly wish to sprout and grow?

  • What fears do I have around my abilities to support my metaphorical plant(s)? Are these warranted, or is it time for some pruning of stifling mindsets from my psyche? Are there aspects of my life that may be in conflict with my new growth?

  • What actions can I take daily to nurture these seeds and ensure their survival into sprout-hood and a thriving, blooming plant?

  • What will it feel like if my dream-seeds grow to fullness? What would it look like, smell like, taste like, sound like? What sorts of doors would their fruition open?

Beware of scarcity marketing and scarcity mindset. Do not allow capitalist ideologies to rob you of your drive to pursue what you believe is valuable and worthy of your attention and effort. The best things, the most sustainable things, take time, nurturing, focus, passion… Be where you are, enjoy every moment of your journey. Acknowledge the person you are today. Have no agenda, and allow yourself to do what makes you feel most at home in yourself.
