Total Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Virgo
In the wake of a Sun conjunction to Saturn in Pisces, this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse could have you feeling a little discouraged or unsure of yourself within the confines of the current paradigm we are attempting to break free from. Full Moons signify moments of release, and with this Full Moon sitting on the south node of the moon (which defines an eclipse), letting go is punctuated - eclipses are deeply karmic, transformation is inevitable, and if we hold too tightly to something we’ve outgrown, the Universe will conspire to push us to take the often scary leap off the edge of the person we once were into the unknown abyss of who we are becoming.
This Full Moon eclipse occurs on March 14, 2025 at 12:54am MDT (so if you are west of this time zone this will occur in the final hours of March 13th). It’s a total eclipse, meaning the light of the sun will be completely blocked by the earth as the sun, earth, and moon come into almost perfect alignment, causing a shadow to cross the face of Luna.
Eclipses in themselves are destabilizing, and this eclipse is being influenced by Uranus, the Great Disruptor. With Uranus sitting in a supportive trine to Moon, you may feel like you’re able to loosen your grip on the things in your life you’ve known deep down you need to let go of but have been too afraid to even imagine a life without… whether it’s a relationship, a job, an old belief system, egoic fears that keep you “safe”, unhealthy habits, something related to your environment and where you live…
Mars has been very slow moving since his station direct at the end of last month. He has been approaching a square to Chiron in Aries, with the intensity of this aspect exacting just before our next eclipse of the season, but this aspect will be felt through the eclipse portal. It’s no mystery why we’re all feeling a little discouraged in these times, where our jobs, the safety of all humans and our public lands, our health, our money, our freedom all seem to be at stake right now. This Mars in Cancer square to Chiron in Aries highlights a mood of feeling like we can’t have what we want, related to what is really important to our sense of safety, to our sense of home. We are feeling like we don’t know how to cultivate this sense of security within ourselves and our own lives, within our communities, and in the world. We’re experiencing this personally but on a very connected, collective level. We are in this together. We all know what’s at stake, and it’s ok to feel frozen in fear while we try to make sense of and strategize a way forward. Don’t let your fear keep you in inaction or escapism. Let this eclipse inspire you to connect with the people around you, of all different backgrounds, ideologies, class, gender identity, race… we will fall if we turn against one another, but if we can gather in intentional, collective action, we will be unstoppable…
I have no idea how the energies of this eclipse season will play out. I do know that what we are moving through has been written in the stars. This year is going to be revolutionary - with all of the outer planets changing signs this year, dramatic change is inevitable - what *kind* of change is up to the ways in which we act. Virgo rules the mundane, so on this Full Moon eclipse, consider your daily actions and how they are serving your bigger picture. How are you taking care of yourself on the daily? This is so important, because what we are in service to behind the scenes ripples out as we connect with the people in our lives, from the workers we encounter at the grocery store, to our closest friends, and everyone we interact with in between. The care that you give to yourself is imperative for our collective liberation, so consider how you can better devote yourself to the mundane. Do your laundry as a radical act of self love. Turn making yourself a meal into a ritual offering of gratitude to your body. Carve out time for prayer and reflection.
Witchcraft and spellwork is romanticized into this grand conjuring of spirits with the use of herbs and body parts of creatures and crystals and feathers and fire… and yes, this can be one way that spellwork looks, but using the mundane as a vehicle for manifesting a life you want has immense power. A spell can be as simple as an intention you infuse into a mundane act. This is the magic and the medicine of Virgo. When things feel like too much, infuse your everyday acts with your prayers. Do this daily and behold the magic that ensues. As you sweep your house, imagine that you are sweeping away energies that plague your well-being or sense of safety. As you shower, consider what you want to be purified by the water and taken away down the drain. As you brush your teeth, let it be a scrubbing away of the thought patterns or habitual phrases that keep you from realizing your creative power. And you know what, if you feel like adding in a little flair of *woo,* burn some sage or other aromatic herb in your house or your car, but say a prayer as the smoke swirls through space. Whether we are conscious of it or not, every action we do has impact. The more we practice something, the stronger the impact becomes. You are so much more powerful than you give yourself credit for. And with this power comes responsibility. Everything we do as individuals will play a role in our collective liberation.
You are an incredible being who deserves EVERY OUNCE of your love, care, and attention. Let this eclipse clear away whatever it is that is standing in between you and your devotion to what matters the most. Sending y’all big love.
