New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aries
We are in Big Threshold Energy. On Saturday morning, March 29th, the final Aries north node solar eclipse is closing a chapter and ushering us into a new era. There is an incredible amount of activity right now between the Pisces and Aries cusp, with Mercury and Venus both retrograding backwards into Pisces, following the path of the north node, and passing Neptune as he makes his once in a lifetime ingress into Aries on Sunday the 30th. Mercury, the messenger, moving retrograde, is quite literally passing Neptune at the cusp and into Pisces at the moment of Neptune’s transition into Aries. With this final Aries north node eclipse occurring just a day before this significant moment, we are being asked to be brave as we tune into the desires of our soul and truly believe that their fruition is possible.
The nodes of the moon move backward through the zodiac, and as we complete our journey of eclipses through the Aries/Libra axis, we are coming to a collective karmic close of our current lessons around our sense of self and our relationships with others. On this Solar eclipse, when the light of the Sun is hidden by the Moon in Aries, reflect on the ways you have changed and outgrown how you have been existing in the world and in relationships. What relationships and parts of yourself are you leaving behind as you more harmoniously align with your spiritual ideals of being in service to yourself as well as in your community and with the world at large?
Venus Retrograde
This theme around relationship and sovereignty is punctuated as Venus continues her retrograde journey from Aries to Pisces. At the moment of the eclipse, she is at the late degrees of Pisces, sitting with Neptune and the North Node, and Saturn not far away. What skeletons have emerged from your metaphorical closet since she began her retrograde journey back in March? What have you learned about boundaries in relationship, and what are you affirming as non-negotiables, to preserve your autonomy and safety? What messages have you been receiving about past relationships, and the way you have learned to assert yourself in partnership? With this stellium of planets in Pisces, we are reckoning with the ways we lose ourselves in relationship, and as Saturn gets closer, the importance of boundaries becomes more clear. How can we find a balance between merging with another and staying clearly in our purpose and our vitality? And how can we find the courage to walk away when someone else’s path is clearly not in alignment with and pulling us away from our own? This could be manifesting within a romantic relationship with one person and in all kinds of relationships (business, friendship, therapy, creative collaborators, etc), with one other person or with many people.
Aries-Pisces Threshold, and Neptune’s Ingress
Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, a new beginning, a spark, an inspiration, following a death, a release, a dissolution in Pisces. Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac, it is yin, and represents the darkness, a time of going inward, of dreaming, of gestating. Aries represents spring, yang energy, it is new life, it is bursting out of the darkness and into the light. It is bringing forth what has been growing inside of us. Remember, light and dark is not about good and evil, one is not better than the other, and the transition from one to another is not about going from immorality to morality… it is simply about the seen and the unseen, the conscious and the unconscious, and we need to exist in both in order to continue our never ending journey of reflection and actualization…
When a slow moving planet like Neptune changes signs, it marks a new era, a changing of energy that moves the masses. This is a big death, rebirth moment for us as a collective, and also for each of us individually. Some of us may be feeling this more on a personal level than others, but we will undoubtedly feel this on a collective level. I’m not suggesting we will have a complete revolution overnight, we have 15 years of Neptune in Aries, with moments where Neptune will dip back into Pisces in the next couple of years, to see the ways in which the planet of dreams, spirituality, compassion, delusion, boundlessness expresses itself in the sign that rules desire, assertiveness, self-actualization, conflict, war… the last time Neptune moved into Aries in 1861, we had the Civil War here in America, which was a fight based on ideology, a war about abolition. It feels a little too close to home right now, with our government funding and perpetuating a g*noc*de, and kidnapping and imprisoning people based on the color of their skin and their country of origin, their rights being completely violated and ripped away. What will become of this? It is no mystery that our collective rage is building, we are taking to the streets in larger and larger numbers. We know we must fight back and many of us feel helpless, hopeless, unsure of a way forward. As Neptune moves into Aries, I believe that we will find the courage and also the clarity to effectively fight for love, for compassion, for equality. Neptune is about a dissolution of boundaries. Those of us that truly embody the spirit of Love know no borders. We know that no human is illegal, especially on stolen land. We know we all belong, we all deserve joy and healthy food and clean water and beautiful land to steward and roam. This is what we are fighting for in these times. True freedom and liberation for all. For Palestine. For the Congo. For Sudan. And for everyone here in America too, both visitors and residents.
When we consider the shadow side of Pisces, and also of Neptune, as Neptune is the modern ruler of Pisces, we get illusion, lies, misinformation, nationalism, religious fanaticism… which is definitely what this T***p era has been giving. I would guess that if you’re reading this, you share my frustration with people who are actually eating up the garbage that M**k is actually *doing good* for our country, and has never done anything to hurt anyone… people are completely blind to the effect the gutting of our social services and environment have on them, and that this is solely for the personal gain of T***p and M**k and their billionaire buddies because they are controlling the media and the narrative, making immigrants out to be the enemy, and continuing to promise to “Make America Great.” It’s smoke and mirrors, and my greatest hope for Neptune moving into Aries is for people to see through the bull sh*t, to stop watching Fox News, to get off X, to unsubscribe from the Washington Post, and wake up from the dream that these men have fabricated and see the nightmare that is bound to become our reality if we don’t band together and demand them to stop.
I recommend seeking out more information about this Neptune transit if it interests you, there’s a lot of interesting info out there from other astrologers, and I simply cannot cover everything in this humble New Moon analysis. I recommend the works of Rick Levine, Jessica Lanyado (Ghost of a Podcast), and Adam Elenbaas (Nightlight Astrology) to name a few…
Mars square Chiron
The New Moon in Aries is ruled by Mars, and Mars has been slowly moving through a challenging square with Chiron in Cancer. I touched on this in the Full Moon in Virgo post, as this aspect was building - amidst this uncomfortable threshold moment, Mars square Chiron is potentially creating some internal narratives that we don’t have what it takes or we don’t deserve to have the thing we want, whether that’s collective liberation, or finding love, or starting a business, or releasing a toxic habit… what is between what you want and where you are very well could be yourself. Challenge your beliefs, and explore where this hurt is really coming from. The only way we heal is by bringing our shame and our hurt out of the darkness and into the light - may the ingress of Neptune into Aries be the courage and the balm to heal these parts of yourself.
Neptune and Saturn
Although Aries is about action and impulse, be patient, as you might not have complete clarity yet on how to move forward. Neptune and Saturn will make a conjunction in Aries next year in February, for the first time since 1989. Over the next year, Neptune, the planet of dreams, and Saturn, planet of structure, will dance toward and away from each other until they come together next year, creating a dizzying swirl of ideas and strategies for making our visions a reality… at times we may feel confused, we might get discouraged, and we may not see a clear way forward, but be diligent, don’t give up, keep your focus, and allow for things to unfold in mysterious ways…
March has been ROUGH… we’ve had two retrogrades, eclipses, and on Sunday, Neptune moving into Aries… In April we will have Mercury going direct on April 7th and Venus going direct on the 12th… eclipse season will be behind us, and we can embody the vitality of Aries season and the uncharted territory (for us in this life) of the planet of dreams traversing the action oriented sign of Aries. Remember the power of the collective, seek out connection in community, and work to change people’s minds through love and understanding instead of fear and frustration.
Sending you lots of love and blessings as we navigate these challenging times…
