Full Moon in Libra: a penumbral eclipse
Libra Full Moons in theory are fun and bubbly and social. Spring has just arrived, and we’re letting go of the heaviness of winter… where I live, greenery is sprouting up from the ground, the crocuses are blooming, the sun is shining later, and the ground is getting warm enough to walk barefoot… Our skies are dominated by Piscean energies, with Mars, Venus, Saturn, and Neptune all traversing this sign currently, giving big, mysterious oceanic vibes, keeping us in a sort of liminal space of possibility and the unknown. Some of us may be enjoying the ride, and others may be experiencing overwhelm… trust that you chose this life and this path and this time for a reason, and that you are exactly where we are supposed to be, and that you have what it takes to make it through what you’re going through.
This full moon is a penumbral eclipse, meaning it just barely made it to being classified as an eclipse… so, the energy is not quite as intense as a total eclipse (which we will have the pleasure of experiencing two weeks from now - buckle up!). Eclipses are course correctors, they are a time where we experience big shifts, endings and new beginnings… The Full Moon in Libra is sitting opposite to and reflecting the messages from all of our personal planets, which are traversing Pisces and Aries, the signs of endings and beginnings respectively, so although it’s not a major eclipse, it’s still big transformative energy. We are stepping out of the old, and bravely emerging into something we never thought possible.
Lunation Ruler, Venus, sextile to Jupiter
This south node eclipse is asking us to release toxic ways of relating, and any skewed beliefs we have around what it means to be in relationship; it is calling for equity and justice in all of our relations, and for all people. This seems like an impossible ask in these times. How do we accomplish such a shift? What will it take? How do we remain hopeful? With all the hatred circulating in politics, social media, in real life, how can we focus our energies towards creating more love and understanding, even in moments where we are met with differing ideologies? Be gentle with yourself, and take care to fortify your boundaries when you need to. Notice when you get triggered and when you feel your sympathetic nervous system getting activated… recognize who is safe in your circles and who isn’t. It’s time to release the people and environments from your life that are leaving you feeling depleted. We have a really beautiful, supportive aspect dominating this full moon signature - Venus rules this lunation, and she is exalted in the sign of Pisces and sitting in a sextile to Jupiter, who is in Venus’ other ruling sign of Taurus… Venus and Jupiter are the benefic planets, meaning they offer us the people, opportunities, serendipities we need to trust our way forward… whenever Jupiter and Venus are in a harmonious aspect with one another, it can feel like a lift. Keep your eyes and your heart open for magic, and let yourself enjoy and savor glimmers when they arise.
Venus conjunct Saturn in Pisces
Venus and Saturn sit very close to one another this Full Moon as well - Chani Nicholas said it really beautifully - she said that Saturn is necessary in love, because Saturn demands commitment. So Saturn and Venus together in this eclipse lunation is giving us the discipline we need to follow through with following our dreams (Venus in Pisces) on a personal and collective level. Can our dreams be in alignment with a new way of being, can they be a rebellion against the current oppressive systems? I also see this aspect as devotion to understanding and loving others, in seeing our own struggles and our own desires reflected in people we may not under normal circumstances feel connected to. It would be easier to write them off as wrong, ignorant, insensitive… how can we soften our gaze on those we disagree with?
Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus moving towards their conjunction
We are in absolutely mind boggling times. It’s madness out there. Sh*t ain’t workin, so we have to think creatively. We cannot keep investing in systems that aren’t in service to our lives. This whole vibe is related to the Jupiter and Uranus conjunction that has been building… I keep talking about it and I feel like a broken record but it’s important and significant and exciting… this energy is building… we have been becoming increasingly fed up with the status quo and we are getting a little louder every day that we are not going to just sit back and watch our money be used for violence and genocide and war machines, period, AND ALSO expressing our disgust for billions (maybe trillions) of dollars being spent on war while people in our country are experiencing increasing homelessness, inaccessibility to basic needs, and a lack of quality health care (I’m speaking specifically of what’s happening in the United States). Anyways I’m getting on a soapbox here but I’m just trying to explain this Uranus-Jupiter in Taurus energy… these outer planets are affecting us collectively, big time… this aspect that will be exact April 20th is going to create some sort of ripple that will affect our economic systems and our relationship to the earth’s resources. I feel it already and hear it in the conversations with people I come in contact with… there is a general desire of wanting to root into the earth, to connect to food systems and our communities, to shift away from working in jobs that are robbing us of joy and vitality even if it means making less money. I feel very privileged to live where I live, and I understand this is not everyone’s experience… I do believe that universally, our values are changing and shifting…this is Uranus in Taurus… and we are expanding our minds to what we believe is valuable, and reframing our values to what is right, true, and generous (Jupiter in Taurus). In the United States, we have been so polarized, but I sense a sort of softening in this, perhaps even a turning towards one another, and acknowledging that maybe there’s a place where we can meet in the middle… this is my hope and my prayer.
Next week, on April 1st, Mercury will station retrograde at 27 degrees of Aries, in the sign we will experience a total solar eclipse in the following week. Chiron is within the path of this retrograde journey, meaning we will be receiving some potent messages about our healing - be ready for the most tender of times. Chiron is the wounded healer, and as I’ve mentioned in previous posts (as the Chiron-North Node conjunction has been a significant aspect in these times), we are doing really challenging, uncomfortable work to look at and tend to deep core wounds. During this coming Mercury retrograde, take care with your words, to yourself and to others. Let your words be a balm and not a sword.
That’s all I’m going to say on this… my invitation for you this eclipse season is to be open to any possibilities. Expect the unexpected. Let yourself rest, and from your space of rest, let yourself dream big audacious outlandish dreams. Right them down, paint about them, sing about them… This time is going to be super tender, let yourself be in grief and pain, resist escaping the discomfort.
Stay kind, stay curious, stay weird, ya’ll.
