New Moon in Pisces

This New Moon in Pisces, sitting between Saturn, the planet of structure, and Neptune, the planet of infinite consciousness, is an opportunity for us to challenge the boundaries of what we believe is possible, to begin planting the seeds for a completely transformed reality that will manifest itself over the coming years… Although this New Moon is not an eclipse, it is the start of a lunar cycle that includes an eclipse, and so here we are, crossing the threshold…

This last week has been an intense week of healing and clearing. It may have felt easy and effortless for some, and others may have had comforts seemingly ripped out from under them… this new moon chart signature is activating us in unseen ways that won’t fully make themselves manifest until 2026… we are clearing out what we cannot carry with us, and we are given a potent opportunity to start alchemizing a new reality for ourselves and our communities, local and global.

The modern ruler of Pisces (and thus the ruler of this chart) is Neptune, which is in Pisces, and sitting close enough to this New Moon for it to matter, vivifying our visions, and also making it a little more difficult to discern what is real and what is an over-idealized projection. Pisces represents oneness, collective consciousness, the dream space, creativity, intuition, pure compassionate love - so anytime we have a new moon in Pisces, it’s dreamy vibes. It’s not time to be serious, or get things done, or set concrete, realistic, measurable goals… it’s a time to expand your mind beyond the normal limits of your consciousness, to strip yourself of the rigid schemas that serve to give your reality structure and explore what you would create if given a blank slate. It’s a time to let go of the constructs of what you believe is possible and stretch your mind into the seemingly impossible. Let go of guilt and surrender to this energy - rest and dream, engage with water, journey into other realms, practice stream of consciousness writing, tap into your intuition in any way possible… this particular new moon chart has a disruptive and constructive intensity to it that is making this New Moon extra critical for our collective and personal soul evolution…

Every cosmic energy exists within a spectrum - the shadow side of Pisces and Neptune is illusion, deception, delusion, and escapism - be wary of “shiny objects” and romanticizations you project onto situations, relationships, etc… On a macrocosmic level, specifically speaking to current issues prevalent in the United States, we are seeing a lot of people sticking their heads in the sand or being swayed by deceptive media, which is becoming increasingly prevalent with the rise in power of artificial intelligence (Pluto in Aquarius = power in technology, also abuse of technological power). Many of us are keeping our eyes open and staying super vigilant in these times, which is not necessarily supportive for our nervous systems but necessary for our current evolution (and extremely exhausting, I might add - I see you), and it can be disheartening and frustrating when we witness continued support for leaders who are so obviously full of sh*t and perpetuating violent imperialism for the sake of so-called democracy and justice. I am not saying that I am in any way immune to delusion, who knows what’s true and what’s not - it’s so hard to discern these days with social media and the ability to create videos and images and audio that seems so real and so authentic… Technology is a beautiful thing, it has afforded us many improvements in our quality of life, and the ability for us to spread knowledge and information at lightning speeds - but it’s no news that we are becoming overly dependent and addicted to our screens. Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus are inviting us to connect back into our true source - to root into the ground beneath us, and remember what we are made of and where we came from. We have to recognize and acknowledge our power as creators, and believe that we are stronger and more resilient than the current structures that try to keep us in fear and dependency.

So, on the issues of escapism and delusion, it is absolutely imperative that we stay awake and aware, and constantly check in with our perception. Drop in to your physical experience, take breaks from your screens, from scrolling, especially when you feel yourself getting activated or dissociative. Check in with your intuition, and resist the urge to check out. I love me a good vision quest, but keep the mind altering substances to a minimum at least until the close of the eclipse portal - microdose, even your alcohol, if that’s something you engage with. If you are not familiar with gentler plant medicines, begin to explore and connect with nervine herbs, heart openers, and roots that will help you to tune into the more subtle layers of yourself so that you can dream from a tethered place. From here, we can co-create with Spirit more effectively. Life becomes easier, we begin to struggle less with the external factors around us, and we begin to see that life is happening for us and not to us.

Now, let’s get into the astrology (if you’re interested in more of the technical side of the interworking of the cosmos)

Neptune and Saturn in Pisces

Neptune and Saturn are both currently moving through Pisces… Saturn spends about two and a half to three years in each sign, and Neptune spends about 14 years in a sign… since Saturn's ingress into Pisces, we have been getting disciplined about our spiritual work. We have been learning lessons around our faith, what we believe in, and what we are devoted to. Mercury and Saturn recently made a conjunction to the Sun right after the last full moon, marking a moment of clarity and resolve of what we want to commit ourselves to - honing in on what makes life feel meaningful, and what actions we can take daily to be in integrity with these values. If you haven’t quite gotten clear on that, take the time on this New Moon to meditate and journal about it. We are all magicians, wielding our magic whether we know it or not - the more conscious we are of the weight of our actions the more active and intentional we can be in the unfolding of our reality, which creates ripples in the bigger picture of our collective realization.

Neptune in Saturn make a conjunction about once every 26 years or so… the last time they made a conjunction was in 1989, and they are moving towards a conjunction in 2026, just after both planets leave dreamy Pisces and enter Aries, which will likely support us with the spark we need to set our manifestations in motion. That being said, we are currently integrating shifts in our personal and collective consciousness, and coming to terms with what ideas and beliefs need to be shed, as well as the structures and systems that have to go, so that the new ways of being we want to imprint have the space to take form. We are all active participants in this, whether we like it or not - it is crucial that we all remain in integrity, to ensure that the way we live our lives are in the purpose of equity and stewardship to this planet and all living things on it. We are meant to live in love and in joy, in right relationship with the cycles of nature, as we too are cyclical, natural beings.

Mars square Uranus - The Sacred Warrior and the Great Awakener

Mars in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus are in a square, and are both in aspect to the New Moon - Mars in a semi-sextile to Sun-Moon, and Uranus in a sextile. Rick Levine, one of the many great elder astrologers of our time, calls this Mars-Uranus square aspect a Tower moment (in reference to Tarot). Tower seasons of our lives are destabilizing, sometimes chaotic - they can bring up grief, especially when we experience abrupt endings. We know deep down these endings are for the best, but it doesn’t make the process any easier. Mars and Uranus in a square aspect surrounding this New Moon in supportive, harmonious angles, are helping us on our journey of evolution, quickening our path to new ways of thinking and being by clearing the people, jobs, circumstances, and so on, that are keeping us in limited modes of living.

Mercury in Aries sextile Pluto in Aquarius

Mercury’s journey in Pisces has had our minds musing in dream mode for the last couple of weeks, orchestrating the conditions for conversations, interactions, serendipities, and thought forms that take us into creative alternate realities… and on the day of the New Moon, Mercury, ruler of communication and our thinking brain, enters into Aries, where they form a sextile to Pluto. Mercury in Aries can potentially create heated exchanges, but with the sextile to Pluto, we can channel our passions into digging deep into our psyches and extracting brambly thought forms, potentially with the help of safe conversational containers shared with close friends, or perhaps processed with a therapist or counselor, or purged on the pages of your journal. Pay close attention to what comes through on the New Moon, set an intention before you sleep to receive messages in your dream space, write down what comes through somewhere you can easily revisit in the future…

Everyone is talking about how this month is free of retrogrades, but on March 18th, Mercury enters their retrograde shadow, where Chiron will be waiting to seed an intention for healing. The coming retrograde experience will serve to assist us during the eclipse season - although we are supported in the ushering through this healing portal, it is not necessarily going to be easy… take advantage of these energies by being a present and active participant in your evolution. The only way is through, and the sooner you release the pressure, the less explosive it will be.

Stay kind, stay curious, stay weird, my friends.
