New Moon in Taurus

New Moon in Taurus May 7, 2024 quote by Tom Robbins about rebellion with image of hands and flowers for sacred rose apothecary

How can one even be optimistic or want to engage in self-serving magical intentions in times like these?

This New Moon in Taurus is giving hope. Venus and Jupiter, the two benefic planets, are sitting on either side of this New Moon, giving us the magic we need to supercharge the seeds we plant at this time. Let’s use our magic for the greater good and really think radically about the kind of communities we want to not just live in but actively participate in.

The Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Taurus is separating and sitting in what we can consider a conjunction to this New Moon, and are therefore significant to the intentions we set at this time. Student protests at universities started ramping up and spreading like wildfire as Jupiter and Uranus made their conjunction - this astrological event is one of justice and rebellion, so the coinciding of these events came as no surprise to me and anyone who has been keeping a close watch on the approach of this aspect. We are in the wake of the conjunction, but this is only the beginning.

Henry David Thoreau inspirational quote about rebellion for the new moon in taurus astrology blog post by sacred rose apothecary

We can think about the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction on the collective level as manifesting in forms like the intensifying protests in Universities across the United States. Students are demanding that their schools divest from Israel, who is using their resources for genocide. Taurus is about values, Jupiter about justice and Truth with a capital T, and Uranus about upheaval, revolution, and radical change. We are collectively fed up with not having our basic needs met, or seeing others struggling or failing to get their basic needs met, as our government says we can’t afford free health care for all, or student loan forgiveness, while billions of dollars of our hard earned income tax are being spent on murdering innocent people. Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus says, “where the f*ck is the money going? Let me tell you where we WANT it to go.” They say, “love and respect your Mother. We have to take care of the earth and each other.” They say, “40 hour work weeks are not healthy. $7.25 isn’t enough to live. We need more time and money for rest, for play, for loving.”

A lot of people have been asking me, “Rori, what is going on? Why is everyone having such a hard time? So many people I talk to are either having extremely painful experiences or know someone who is breaking down.” These are my thoughts…

On a personal level, we can consider the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction spurring a revolution inside of ourselves. We are having to reconcile with the disconnect between who we are/how we are living our life and who we know ourselves or desire to be deep down… we are reevaluating our “why” and considering what we are living for. There is something stirring within ourselves and it is u.n.c.o.m.f.o.r.t.a.b.l.e. Many of us may be unconscious to this, but sense a general feeling of restlessness, or that something is off, or like we are in a funk. Others of us are hyper aware of this energy but don’t have the resources or know how to make the shift, which can make us feel even more hopeless and discouraged.

The big changes we are going through as a global community and as individuals are going to take time to play out…because of the discomfort of our current journey, it is expected that many of us feel this sense of “I don’t want to be here anymore. I just want to be there.” We have to be patient, be kind to ourselves, and give ourselves credit for just being and staying alive. We have to keep talking about the world we wish to see, and support others as they talk about their dreams. Check in with friends, coworkers, family members. How can we hold each other up as we walk through these uncertain, terrifying times?

Moon’s ruler, Venus in Taurus

Venus is the ruler of this lunation, and with her currently residing in her home sign of Taurus, there’s a number of ways we could consider the way this energy is showing up, but I want to look at it through a social justice lens because it’s important. Venus is about our values and where we channel our resources. You can think of your resources as your time, your physical energy, your emotional energy, mental energy, your actual money… where is it all going? This tells you what you value.  Are you being conscious and intentional about the way you spend your resources? The impact that the way you use your resources has on others? I believe that everyone deserves to have food, water, and p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e. It is, in my opinion, why we’re here. Is your 50 hour work week really lighting you up? Where is it taking you? Where are you going? Who are you impacting? Have you considered another way? I’m not trying to call anyone out, (or am I?) no, really, I know some of you are hanging on by a thread. I see you. I feel you. BUT I just want to invite you to really take inventory of your values, and if they deserve your resources. Are you really happy? Are you giving yourself the TLC you deserve? Are you being a little too hard on yourself? This New Moon in Taurus, consider what rituals you want to incorporate into your life to bring a little more pleasure into your day to day in whatever way is accessible to you. Devote yourself to it. Make it happen. Write it on your mirror. Set an alert on your phone.

Venus is currently approaching the Sun, which means the activation of another Venus Star Point in the turning of the spiralic wheel of life that we are witnessing. I like to consider the part of the Venus cycle we are in in these lunation explorations, especially when we are in specific cycles that call our attention to the Goddess (like a New Moon in Taurus). I want to bow to the work of Adam Gainsburg - he has been watching Venus for decades and working with her cycles by witnessing the processes of his clients, as well as within himself, in respect to Venus, and he is a beautiful facilitator in helping others experience and embody the wisdom of Venus and other wandering stars… according to his work, the phase we are currently in in this Venus cycle is the Immersion Phase. Adam describes this phase in term’s of the Heroine’s Journey: “The Queen of Heaven is pulled away from the world by an inward force, and prepares to rediscover Her divine essence from within.” This is in reference to the Innana myth, another avatar of Venus, which is one of the oldest written texts of humanity. We are in our metaphorical underworld descent, where we will be stripped of everything we think holds value… when we are stripped of everything, we will discover our true self, and when we emerge, we will decide what is worthy of coming with us, what still holds value…

Mercury conjunct Chiron in Aries

Mercury made a conjunction to Chiron on Monday, May 6th, which was the third and final conjunction of Mercury’s retrograde journey. If you keep a journal, revisit the other times the conjunction occurred to see if there was a common thread: March 20th and April 15th. What sorts of thoughts were you having on these days? Was it hard? Were you feeling tender? If it’s not too painful, revisit those thoughts, or conversations you may have had… are you still feeling it on this new moon? How can you comfort yourself through these difficult moments? How can you integrate these wounded parts of yourself, accept them, and use them as information to clear your way forward? We’ve been really getting hit hard with Chiron lessons this year, and I’d love to say that this is the end of it, but unfortunately we’re not quite there yet… Mars is going to make a pass at Chiron at the end of the month. Keep doing the work and harness your inner sacred warrior so that when the time comes, you’re equipped to get the poison out.

Saturn in Pisces trine the New Moon

Saturn is in a trine to this New Moon, which many are calling supportive. And if that’s your experience, I love that for you. I’m not sure I’m sold on that. Saturn in Pisces very well could be bestowing the discipline you need to invoke your daily practices that are fortifying your mental and spiritual health. On the other side of the coin, it may be bringing up fear around your relationship with the Divine, or uncertainty around what you put your faith in. It may also have you feeling like what you're going through isn’t important or valid because of the suffering you are witnessing in others. You have to put on your own oxygen mask before you help others. You are doing hard things. You deserve to take care of yourself. And if you are lucky enough to be one of those people out there feeling resourced and vital and *living your bliss*, then find a way to offer yourself in some way to those that are going through it.

Let’s plant some seeds of magic. We’re on a wild ride and nothing is certain or known. Don’t operate based on what you believe is possible. We deserve so. much. More.

Stay weird. Stay curious. Stay kind.

Sending ya’ll so much love.
